Scripture - Spiritual Blindness
I recommend using a lectionary because it deeply immerses you in Scripture in a way that is not of your choosing. In the 1922 Book of Common Prayer lectionary, I am currently working through prophetic writings in the Old Testament and the Book of Acts in the new.
On the former, it is striking to me how consistent the themes are. Seemingly no matter which prophets you read the message is the same: Israel must repent, Israel has strayed, disaster is coming upon Israel unless it relents, although Israel is in terrible sin yet the Lord will relent, etc. And of course one of the other principle themes is the rejection of the prophets by Israel: the priests, the people, the princes and the (fake) prophets don’t want to know.
