Easter Greetings!
and from charismatic evangelicalism to Anglo-Catholicism and a bit on 'Broken Gospel? Christianity and the Holocaust' by Peter Waddell
Happy Easter one and all! I’m releasing this on Sunday morning so that I can say that without fear: Alleluia! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! I have to admit that I have found Holy Week to be challenging this year and I have not necessarily felt enormously spiritual. But then, I’m not sure that that is such a problem from the Lord’s perspective. I have managed to preach seven sermons on seven consecutive days, which I’ve never done before. On the whole, it’s been a very positive thing and I’m glad to have managed it. But equally glad that it’s over and that I can celebrate Christ’s risen life and the undeserved hope and joy it can bring to our lives.
It’s been a good start to the year for me with much progress made in many ways, but I have to say that I am pretty tired now and that I am looking forward to having a week off. I might write something for the coming week, but I also might not. You’ll have to wait and see. But I’ll certainly be back with my regular blog once I’m back working again. We’ve got a big few months coming up, mainly because we are relocating back to Winchester after a gap of six years and because I’m taking up my new post as priest in charge at Holy Trinity Winchester. The move is coming up in early June so there is a lot to do in preparation. In addition, I’m hoping to finish my curacy strongly here in Nottingham and to continue to work on all the other projects that I’m involved in with at least some degree of focus. Thank you once again for supporting what I’m doing. I am genuinely so encouraged by those who subscribe to this blog.
Anyway, I’ll leave it there for now. For paid subscribers, a little bit about my reading of Broken Gospel?: Christianity and the Holocaust by Peter Waddell and how my relationship with Peter was the beginning of my journey from the world of charismatic evangelicalism into high-church Anglo-Catholicism.
Broken Gospel?: Christianity and the Holocaust by Peter Waddell
I’ve read about half of my friend Peter Waddell’s new book on Christian complicity in the Holocaust. It’s extremely interesting and challenging and I’d recommend it to my readers.
