I thrive on quotidian structure and discipline. If I don’t have it, my days fall apart and I frequently spiral into a kind of brain-fog and anxious depression. A big part of this problem comes from the old mobile phone. There is a positive correlation for me between the amount of times I check my phone during the day and this fuzzy feeling. I’m making a new resolution: no checking emails or anything else till after 9am on working days. On Monday, my day off, I try not to check anything at all. Exercise in the morning is absolutely key for me to starting the day well. It wakes me up, puts me in a completely different and more positive frame of mind and gives me mental focus. One of the benefits of exercising at home (apart from the time and money it saves not going to the gym) is that your children see you doing it and it normalises it for them.
